Includes: no. 1. a note by Alberto Capilupi on Petrarch manuscripts and editions in his collection in Mantua; 2. a note by Putelli (probably Giuseppe-Giacomo Putelli) on Petrarch manuscripts and editions in the Biblioteca communale of Mantua; 3. a manuscript copy of a letter from Lorenzo da Pavia to Isabella d'Este, marchesa di Mantova, which discusses the 1501 Aldine edition of Petrarch; 3a. A letter from S. Arrivabene to Willard Fiske, describing the group of manuscripts he was sending him; 4. a French version of the same letter, copied by hand from A.F. Didot, Alde Manuce, p. 170-171; and 5. notes on the Paganini and the Comino editions of Petrarch's Rime by Ferdinando Negri (two items).

Francesco Petrarca (b. July 20, 1304, Arezzo, Italy–d. July 19, 1374, Arquà, Italy), commonly anglicized as Petrarch, was a scholar and poet of Renaissance Italy who was one of the earliest humanists. His rediscovery of Cicero's letters is often credited with initiating the 14th-century Renaissance. Petrarch is often considered the founder of Humanism.
